We were chosen by Fenland District Council in 2018 to develop a new brand identity for Hereward Community Rail Project. It needed to have a fresh modern design that identified them as part of the national rail network. To begin the process we produced five logos, three were chosen and put to a secret public online poll. Once we knew the chosen logo we then developed the brand with brand guideline booklet, promotional literature and graphics. The unveiling of the brand was at FDC council offices in March with CRP partners Fenland District Council, and train operators CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains and Greater Anglia joined with other steering group members, volunteers and local organisations including ourselves.

Hereward CRP initially launched in 2012 to focus on the railway line between Peterborough and Ely namely Manea, March and Whittlesea railway stations. The management of the Hereward CRP is through a Steering Group consisting of local authorities and rail company representatives. The lead organisation for the group is Fenland District Council. The Hereward CRPs wider members include local station adopter groups such as the Friends of March Railway Station and local street pride groups.

Councillor David Oliver, Fenland District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transport, said: “These are really exciting times with ongoing investment in our Hereward Line stations at March, Manea and Whittlesey, so it’s great to have a new logo and brand identity for the Hereward Community Rail Partnership. “The new logo and marketing materials will help us become more identifiable with our customers and support the work we are doing to promote rail travel in the Fens.”

Richard Gibson, CrossCountry’s Head of Communications, said: “We were delighted to help with the relaunch of the Hereward partnership. A strong identity is important for any organisation wanting to be remembered by its customers, and this new logo will make it easier for everyone to recognise the benefits being delivered for rail users across Fenland.”
